FAQS
Where does colostrum come from?
Four Leaf Rover Bovine Colostrum comes from a heifers first milk. The colostrum is collected from pasture-raised, grass-fed, antibiotic-free and hormone free cows. All cows are raised on a small organic dairy farm. The colostrum is then made into a powder form.
How is the colostrum collected?
After the first 12 hours after a calf is born and within a 36 hour window, colostrum is collected; this is when colostrum levels are high. The calves get the colostrum all to themselves for the first 12 hours. After that, the colostrum is collected. Calves are never separated from their mothers, even during collection time.
How does colostrum work in the fight against allergies?
There’s a well researched ingredient in colostrum called proline-rich polypeptide (PRP), its been known to help with allergy symptoms. Colostrum can also help support a healthy gut lining and immune function as it helps regulate the thymus gland and immune cells (T and B cells) plus supplies immunoglobulins (IgG and IgA).
If my dog has a beef sensitivity, can he still take colostrum?
There’s a good chance that if your dog has a beef sensitivity, he may still tolerate colostrum. The proteins in beef and colostrum are different. Colostrum contains a very small amount of lactose, unlike milk. But before you give colostrum, check with your vet if your dog has a sensitivity to dairy.
Can colostrum be used topically?
Of course! Create a paste and put it on irritated skin, hot spots or bites! All you need to do is mix the colostrum with some distilled water until it makes a paste and apply it directly to the skin.
